Company Picnicking 101

You're a go-getter, an entrepreneur and you love your work. You are a trained manager, possibly a company owner and you're proud of what you do. But what do you do when you're chosen to head the company picnic? If you're not much of an outdoors type but you still want to put on an amazing picnic for your employees, here are some great tips, tricks and secrets from Picnic-Basket.com.

First, you must have the appropriate picnic basket and accessories. If you are a small company, one or two of the perfect baskets may be all you need to serve everyone with. However, if your company picnic is on a corporate scale, surprise your employees with an exquisite and elegant wine and cheese set for everyone or hand out gift certificates.

Location is everything. If your business is located next to a state park, you're in luck. Google your state for your local state park websites or check with a travel agency for a list of parks. You could also stop by your nearest community center and ask for a small list of local family and recreation parks with grass and picnic tables if a state park is too much or has no available reservations.

Be sure to take your employees to a park with bathrooms and water fountains. Parks with outdoor courts or nearby trails are a great way to encourage exercise before your meal and liven the crowd. Take a look at your park site a week before the event to make sure you've chosen a well maintained, clean and safe park.

Inexpensive badminton, volleyball, tennis and horse shoe sets can be purchased online or at your local sporting goods store. For something more extravagant, a table top game is an awesome time. Pictionary an easy pick when using office supplies. A large display pad and some pens and pencils are all you need to draw and guess for points.

Turkey wraps, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, dips, guacamole, cold casseroles and salad tacos are an excellent way to nourish your hungry group. If you've run out of time, patience or simply don't want to cook, however, cater your event! Check with your local sandwich store or your nearest Subway restaurant for some foot long sandwiches. Don't forget to take a cooler full of beverages with you as well and a crock pot of hot soup for unsure weather. Once your day has come to an end, call a company meeting back at the picnic tables to thank everyone for attending. Hand out the gift certificates at this time and individual thank you notes with the date and time for the next company picnic, even if it is months away, to keep them interested and looking forward to it.

At Picnic-Basket.com we hope that these tips and hints are a great help and that your company picnic is a memorable experience. Pleasant Picnicking!
