2006 Writing Contest Details
Who May Enter Our Writing Contest?
Anyone, anywhere, any age.
Entries:
Entrant is to submit a fiction or non-fiction picnic story. It must be the original work of the submitting author. Accurate contact information is essential so that we may notify you of the contest results and to give you proper credit for your story. Be creative with this online writing contest.
Word limit:
We are flexible on this but would generally like the stories to be more than 300 words and less than 1500 words.
How Winners Are Determined:
Stories will be judged by a team of 3 people on the following criteria:
- Presentation
- Originality and creativity
- Grammar, punctuation, spelling
How Will Winners Be Notified?
Our writing contest winners will be notified by email. Please make sure that you use a valid email address when you submit your story. If you have spam filters in place you should set Picnic-Basket.com to be an email address you accept email from.
All writing contest entries that meet our guidlines will be posted on Picnic-Basket.com and perhaps other picnic websites that we maintain.
If, when we notify you of your winning entry, your email address is returned as undeliverable, we will go back to the pool of submitted stories and will choose a new winning story. Again, be sure that you use a valid email address when you submit your picnic story.
Can a person submit more than one story?
Yes, we will gladly accept more than one entry. We enjoy reading every writing contest entry!
Multiple entries will increase your chance of winning only because you will have more stories for us to choose from. However, the volume of entries in itself will not be a factor in our decision.
Contest Frequency and Deadline:
We will conduct one contest each quarter of the calendar year. The contest closes at midnight Eastern Time on the last day of each quarter.
Deadlines for:
2005: December 31
2006: March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31

Shipping:
What if I win a prize? Will it cost me any money to have it shipped to me? Winners located in the Continental US/lower forty-eight States, will have no shipping fee. If you live anywhere other than this, Picnic-Basket.com will pay the first 15.00 of the shipping cost. You will be responsible for any additional charges, including any Custom Charges.
Right To Roll Over Contest To The Next Contest Period:
If we do not receive a minimum of 15 story entries during any one contest period, Picnic-Basket.com reserves the right to roll the entries over to the next contest period.
Delivery Of Prizes
Winning authors will be notified within 10 days after the end of each contest periods. Winning author prizes will be sent within two weeks of the close of each contest period. Unclaimed prizes will expire after 90 days.
